We were born out of the belief that too many patients are treated in hospital when they could be treated at home. We believe that this is still the case.
HomeLink Healthcare was established in 2016 by our CEO, Jill Ireland, Non-Executive Director: Dr David Lomax, and other clinicians with decades of NHS experience. Since then, we’ve been working in partnership with hospitals to deliver Hospital at Home services in England.
We have developed a whole range of robust clinical and operational systems and work in partnership with technology providers. Our existing partners are positive about the impact of our services, with the majority working with us to increase the scale and scope of our service provision.
We welcomed the NHS England guidelines in May 2022 that integrated care systems should work in partnership with the independent sector to set up virtual wards and other Hospital at Home services. We think that working with a clinically-led specialist provider of Hospital at Home services such as HomeLink Healthcare is an excellent way for the NHS to improve patient flow and deliver successful services. We look forward to continuing to work with ICSs/ICBs to help support them to increase capacity outside acute trusts, reduce crowding in A&E departments, ensure timely discharge of patients and provide better support for people at home. With our experience and expertise we can help accelerate the process, act as a catalyst for change and provide long-term solutions.
We started working on our first virtual ward in 2019. We have grown significantly and now work with various NHS Trusts, ICSs, ICBs and commissioners, developing and implementing pathways for virtual wards, and also supported discharge, reablement and admission avoidance.
