Orthopaedic Hospital at Home services

Comprehensive orthopaedic care at home

HomeLink Healthcare’s hospital at home services are delivered through a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physiotherapists, reablement and healthcare support workers. These services are available seven days a week. The care provided includes:

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation: Assisting patients in recovering from orthopaedic surgeries such as hip or knee replacements.
  • Fracture management: Monitoring and supporting patients with fractures during their healing process.
  • Collar care: Supporting patients with cervical spine injuries by ensuring proper fitting, hygiene, and monitoring of cervical collars.
  • Wound care: Providing care for surgical wounds and pressure injuries.
  • Pre-surgical rehabilitation: For patients with severe to moderate mobility challenges in the lead up to elective surgery.
  • Assessment for equipment at home: Avoid delays to discharge by ensuring necessary equipment has been delivered as required.
  • Mobility support: Assisting with exercises and therapies to improve movement and strength.
  • IV therapy:  Allows patients to receive intravenous treatments at home, providing convenience and reducing the need for hospital visits.

These services are tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient, promoting faster recovery and reducing the risk of hospital-acquired infections.

Benefits of Hospital at Home services for orthopaedic patients

  • Cost-effective care: Hospital at Home services are more cost-effective compared to traditional hospital stays, benefiting both patients and the healthcare system.
  • Enhanced recovery: Patients recover more quickly in a familiar environment, with the support of family and friends.

  • Reduced hospital readmissions: Timely interventions decrease the likelihood of complications that could lead to readmission.

  • Improved patient satisfaction: Receiving care at home leads to higher satisfaction levels among patients, reducing the necessity for them to travel to or stay in hospital.

Hospital workforce extension without recruitment

By supporting earlier discharge and enabling care in the community, HomeLink Healthcare helps healthcare providers improve productivity and efficiency without increasing headcount.
